We're heading out early to a Fourth of July Parade and Pancake Breakfast in beautiful Piedmont.
The streets are lined with shady, leafy trees and everyone comes out to watch the parade. It's got a good, old-fashioned, small-town traditional feel to it. It feels right.
Then, if it's hot, we'll put the roof down on the convertible and head to the ocean along a narrow, winding road. There will be salty breezes, oysters, and maybe a late afternoon picnic in the sands along the shore.
And come dark, we have a secret spot from afar to watch the the blooming of 10,000 fires in the sky!
Whatever your own plans, I hope you enjoy some independence from work and worries today. (It will all still be there tomorrow, you know.)
Remember to get your pets inside, designate a driver, and keep the potato salad cold.
Most of all, may you have a happy celebration this Fourth of July!
